What is Amtgard?
Amtgard is a non-profit, non-sectarian group devoted to recreating elements of fantasy, medieval, and ancient genres. Amtgard has been around for over 10 years in the mid-west and has finally come to the coast. It has a play tested, easy to understand, set of rules. The thrust of Amtgard is both recreational and educational, with major group efforts devoted to the reconstruction of fantasy combat.
Amtgard is a safe and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. The weapons are safe, foam padded replicas of the real things. The magics are safe, foam padded replicas of the imagined things. There is no cost to participate, anyone can join, and the emphasis is on fun.
To become a member of Amtgard, you must fill out a membership form and waiver, then turn them over to the Prime Minister. Minors are welcome, but must have a parent or guardian also sign their waivers. Minors under the age of 14 may not participate in combat without special permission from the Monarch.
There are 12 classes to choose from, 8 are fighting classes (Anti-Paladin, Archer, Assassin, Barbarian, Monk, Paladin, Scout, and Warrior), and 4 are magic classes (Bard, Druid, Healer, and Wizard). The game and classes are balanced so that everyone can play and have a great time.
